Ani Difranco
Angela Maria Ani DiFranco is an American-Canadian artist and singer. Her work has been featured on over 20 albums of studio work. Her songs are classified by the label as folk or alternative rock. They also are influenced by hip-hop as well as jazz, and punk. Ani Difranco is considered to be a feminist legend and Grammy award winner. Being one of the first female artists in the 1990s, DiFranco created her own record label. DiFranco born on 23 September 1970 in Buffalo, New York. She is the daughter of Elizabeth (Ross), who came across Dante Americo DiFranco while studying at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Her father was Italian descent and her mother was born in Montreal. The song by Ani, 32 Flavors was written by her and sung by Ani. This song appears on her album Not a Pretty Girl released in 1995. The song was featured in the soundtrack of the Canadian romantic comedy Better Than Chocolate, released in 1999. DiFranco apologized for holding a conference in Louisiana at an old slave plantation. Although she cancelled the workshop several people (including our own paper) didn't feel any regret. DiFranco released an apology just a few weeks after. Although she is known for her role as the Little Folksinger, her songs have embraced a variety of styles and collaborations that range across the spectrum from Pete Seeger to Chuck D to Prince.
